Vineyard Notes
The Grenache and Cinsault grapes
used to craft this captivating Rosé
were grown in the Landa (Grenache)
and Donohue (Cinsault) vineyards,
located in southeastern Sonoma
Valley. While some Rosés are simply
spin-offs of a red winegrape harvest,
we intentionally set out to create
this very special wine, selecting
grape varieties found in the signature
Rosés from the famed Tavel growing
region in France’s Rhône river valley. To achieve this end, we monitored the grapes
closely and harvested at a lower Brix to maintain a higher acidity than we normally
would for a red wine.
Winemaking Notes
The fruit was hand-harvested early in the morning to make certain we captured the clearest possible juice. We picked at 22 ˚Brix to retain refreshing acidity. The grapes were hand-sorted and gently pressed, yielding stellar juice that was fermented slowly under cool conditions to preserve the bright fruit aromas. After fermentation, the wine was kept in stainless steel and did not undergo malolactic fermentation. The final blend is 60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault.
Tasting Notes
A delicious, yet dry Rosé, handcrafted from gently pressed Grenache and Cinsault.
Its lovely bouquet evokes aromas of orange peel and tart plum, yielding to flavors
of raspberry and honeydew on the palate. A food-friendly wine, perfect for summer
picnics, backyard barbeques or repasts of spicy Asian or Thai cuisine!
