2017 Chardonnay, J McK Estate Taster

Our Estate Chardonnay comes from our sustainably farmed J McK Vineyard located on the western side of Carneros. The vineyard name is derived from Proprietor John Sweazey’s children, John and McKenna. The climate on the estate is influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The cooling influence of the anabatic winds allows the grapes a longer hang time prior to harvest, slowly developing intense flavors while adding brightness and acidity to the final wine. The 2017 vintage started off early. The fruit handled the few heat spikes very well and was able to gradually and slowly ripen. Rich notes of candied lemon peel, vanilla and balanced oak lead to a rich mouthfeel and a complex finish. Bright citrus tones with a touch of baking spices complete this classic Carneros Chardonnay.
