2018 Chardonnay, Dutton Ranch
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine come from the acclaimed Dutton Ranch (Mill Station Vineyard and Shop Block) in the Sonoma Coast AVA. The cool, foggy climate of the region delivers nice acidity and citrus flavors to the wine, while the Goldridge and Sebastopol Clay Loam soils add to its complexity. The 2018 vintage was slow and steady, which allowed the fruit to gradually ripen, holding its acid and allowing it to develop complexity on the vine. The majority of fruit was picked between mid-September and mid-October, with generous yet balanced yields.
Bold notes of nectarine and white plum mingle with gentle aromas of vanilla, pear and lemon zest. The palate is bright, focused, and reminiscent of honeydew melon and lime. This wine has excellent texture, seamlessly integrated oak, and subtle tannins that leave you wanting that second glass.
