2018 Chardonnay, J McK Estate
Our Estate Chardonnay comes from our sustainably farmed J McK Vineyard located on the western side of Carneros. The vineyard name is derived from Proprietor John Sweazey’s children, John and McKenna. The climate on the estate is influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The cooling influence of the anabatic winds allows the grapes a longer hang time prior to harvest, to slowly develop intense flavors while adding just the right touch of lushness to the final wine. The 2018 vintage was slow and steady, which allowed the fruit to gradually ripen, holding its acid and allowing it to develop complexity on the vine. The majority of fruit was picked between mid-September and mid-October, with generous yet balanced yields.
Nose: Lemon curd, vanilla, creamy oak, golden delicious apple, not as bright, lush aromatics, inviting, attractive oak, Madagascar vanilla,
Palate: Great length in texture, ends richer but has vibrancy, mouth feeling, complete wine, oak on the palate, subtle oak spices, light caramel notes, light notes of pear, creme brulee.
