The creation of our Late Harvest Viognier was inspired by the dessert wines I tasted during my travels to Sauternes. Every time I enjoy it, it brings back the memories of driving my Fiat around the French countryside while meeting great people and drinking wonderful wines.

John T. Sweazey, Proprietor

Have you ever had a delicious piece of Roquefort cheese with a glass of delicious dessert wine; perhaps a Sauternes or Vin Santo?  Today we take you to the land of dessert wines, specifically, our 93 point rated 2018 Late Harvest Viognier.  This “Sauternes-like” wine is made from the Viognier grape variety and offers all the incredible aromas and flavors one can expect.  We pick the grapes for this fragrant wine late in the year when they have high sugar content, then ferment it slowly until it reaches the optimal alcohol level and sweetness.  Pick up a case today and go buy a wedge of Epoisses or Roquefort and see what I’m talking about!

Sitting in the southeastern region of the Sonoma Valley AVA at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, Landa Vineyard is blessed with warm days and cool nights during the grape growing season. The Viognier fruit from this special site develops an abundance of sugar, balanced by natural acidity. These grapes are also known for their floral aromas, flint-like flavors, and fleshy, rich texture.

We allow select clusters to hang into November allowing for the “noble rot” that creates intensely concentrated aromas and high sugar levels, to develop. This late-harvest treat is similar in style to the memorable wines of Sauternes.
