2018 Anaba Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, WestLands

Pinot Noir is a fickle grape variety; it loves long cool growing seasons as it matures.  It’s also a grape that really transcends where it’s grown into the glass.  As I’ve been sending you offers for some of our Library Wines this holiday season, I realized that I wanted to share one of our very best reserve bottled wines.  The “WestLands” Pinot Noir designation represents just that – only our very best true Sonoma Coast lots and barrels of the vintage.  When I drink this wine, I am transported to its place – the foggy cool true Sonoma Coast.  As you continue your wine purchasing for the holidays, you must get some of this wine to your house.  It checks all the boxes:  a perfect long growing season in 2018, tiny production, only the best clones from burgundy, and it was grown in one of the world’s greatest spots for Pinot Noir.

The WestLands Pinot Noir elegantly captures the essence of the West Sonoma Coast.  Sourced from a selection of vineyards that reside in close proximity to each other located less than 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean on the west side of the Sonoma Coast AVA, this wine is delicately crafted from our best barrels hand-picked by our winemaker, Katy Wilson.

JOHN’S TASTING NOTES:
This wine bursts from the glass with aromas of bing cherries, raspberry fruit leather, damp forest floor, dried rose petals and violets, black tea, and a hint of blood orange.  The wine is delicate yet mouth-coating on the palate, and it finishes with ultra-fine tannins.
