2019 Pinot Noir Las Brisas
The nose is an intriguing blend of cumin, earthy notes, baking spice, bramble, and a hint of fennel seed. The palate reveals a harmony of ripe blackberry, black tea, kalamata olives, and an underlying minerality. It all culminates in a lean, fruit-forward finish, accentuated by a touch of baking spice.
Light to medium garnet in the glass, this wine smells of dried flowers and raspberries. In the mouth, raspberries, sour cherry, dried flowers, and notes of pomegranate have a wonderful delicacy and floral quality. Silky, beautiful, and bright. Score: between 9 and 9.5.

Winemaker’s Notes
The Las Brisas Vineyard, part of the Mahoney Estate, translates to “the breezes” and sits on the Sonoma side of the Carneros appellation. It is named for the winds that drive morning fog from the vineyards and welcome cooling breezes in the late afternoon. The predominantly clay soils are shallow which, combined with the influence of the nearby San Pablo Bay, yeilds remarkable fruit year after year. This vineyard is well named. Remote and over-looking San Pablo Bay, this wine certainly reflects the mountaintop terroir.
