2019 Chardonnay, J McK Estate
Honey, cloves, and baking spices envelop the nose. On the palate, apricot, Asian pear, and toffee dance on the tongue. This wine is textured and vibrant, rounded out with well-integrated oak. Pair this wine with clams, scalloped potatoes, or a brunch out on the patio.
Named after Anaba proprietor, John’s children, John Michael and McKenna, the JMcK Vineyard is our sustainably farmed estate vineyard. The JMcK Vineyard benefits from those notorious anabatic winds that blow through our vineyards and create a cooling effect that allows for longer hang times and slower grape development giving way to intense, concentrated flavors.
Sandra DeMaria, Estate Director

Winemaker’s Notes
The 2019 vintage was slow and steady, which allowed the fruit to gradually ripen, holding its acid and allowing it to develop complexity on the vine. The majority of the fruit was picked between mid-September and mid-October, with generous yet balanced yields.
The Vineyard
We are so proud of our sustainability-farmed estate vineyard, JMcK. Planted with Wente clone Chardonnay, this vineyard is named after Anaba proprietor John’s two children, John Michael and McKenna. The cooling influence of the anabatic winds warrants the grapes a longer hang time during the growing season. This allows the fruit to slowly develop intense flavors while adding just the right touch of lushness to the final wine.
