John T. Sweazey, Proprietor

There is something I love about 2017.  Maybe, it’s because it was one of our best vintages at Anaba.  However, one thing is for sure, we have a singular and compelling offer for you today – three different wines (Wildcat Mountain Pinot Noir, WestLands Pinot Noir, and our Bismark Syrah), all from the 2017 vintage.  This is a bonafide opportunity for you to either expand your collection of Anaba or enable you to bring a unique wine to your next dinner party.  Either way, getting your hands on some of our delicious cellar-aged wines is an incredible opportunity.  I must say, after offering many of our library wines to you over the last several weeks, I have been blown away by the interest and excitement around those we have perfectly aged in our winery cellar.

2017 will always be remembered as the fire year for us in Sonoma Valley.  Much of the Mayacamas Mountains to our East, and much of the Northern portion of the Valley burned. But, before the horrifying events that began the night of October 8th, 2017, Sonoma County had a banner year across the board in terms of our vintage.  Our Winemaker, Katy Wilson, always strives to make the most approachable and drinkable wines for today, but always keeps an idea of what they will taste like tomorrow, and these three wines we have selected are a product of her vision while making them.

TASTING NOTES:

2017 Wildcat Mountain Pinot Noir: Picked on September 16th, our Wildcat Pinot is always one of the last of the single vineyard Pinots we release.  Due to the extreme terroir of the vineyard, the Wildcat Pinot tends to feature rustic dark and dried red fruits, with some savory herb and fig.  Age has done this wine wonders as now it features velvety tones of blackberry with a long, luscious finish.

2017 WestLands Pinot Noir:  Picked on September 4th, our Westlands Pinot is our barrel select wine from all of our favorite vineyards West of Sebastopol.  Another one of our heartier Pinots at bottling, the 2017 WestLands has mouthwatering dark cherry and strawberry notes with a hint of spice on the finish to make your palate dance.

2017 Bismark Vineyard Syrah:  Picked on October 3rd, the Bismark Vineyard Syrah ‘screams spice and pepper’ as our Wine Club Manager always says.  The time since bottling has muted those pepper flavors considerably, opening up some black cherry and blackberry notes that gives way to some silky tannins to make the finish of this wine long and luxurious with just a hint of black pepper.

This bundle includes:

  • 1 × 2017 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, WestLands
  • 1 × 2017 Pinot Noir, Wildcat Mountain Vineyard
  • 1 × 2017 Syrah, Bismark Vineyard
