We are delighted to work with the Sangiacomo Family, third-generation farmers from Sonoma Valley, to source fruit from their prestigious Roberts Road Vineyard for this Chardonnay. We have produced a vineyard designate Pinot Noir from this vineyard since 2012, and are delighted to have this Chardonnay join the portfolio. Located at the base of Sonoma Mountain at the far northern edge of the Petaluma Gap, the Roberts Road Vineyard produces beautiful, nuanced fruit. In this inaugural vintage, the wine is very nicely balanced. A medley of white flowers, citrus and stone fruit fill the nose while the palate is lush with flavors of nectarine, lemon meringue and green apple. The finish is firm and crisp, showcasing lively acidity.
The vineyard is influenced by coastal breezes, lending itself to slow, even growing, and fruit development. And, for nearly half the day the vineyard is shrouded in fog. The block of Chardonnay for this bottling is in the flatlands at the base of Sonoma Mountain and features well-draining, clay loam soils.
“A dazzling, beautifully balanced wine. ~ Jonathan Cristaldi, Cristaldi & Co
