Our WestLands bottling is a reflection of the western Sonoma Coast. Inspired by the coastal sites of the region, Katy Wilson hand-selected specific barrels to emphasize the 2022 vintage’s distinct cool-climate character. Enticing aromas of fresh red fruits and berry compote lead into a palate defined by maritime influence and a bright finish with beautifully lingering tannins. It is a refined wine that balances power with a graceful elegance. It’s a WOW wine!
WestLands is our nod to the cool-climate sites where coastal influence defines the character of the fruit. Sourced from the western edge of the Sonoma Coast, this 2022 bottling brings together clones 667, 828, and Pommard to capture that perfect tension between bright fruit and salty sea air.
The 2022 season really allowed the region’s personality to shine. The nose is all about fresh red fruits and berry compote, while the palate stays lean and focused on its coastal roots. There’s a “crunchy” energy to the tannins and a dash of exotic spice that gives the wine a great sense of texture and grip.
Because of that lively structure and those lingering tannins, this is a bottle that loves a little time. It’s vibrant and ready to pour today, but it has the bones to settle in and get even more interesting if you tuck a few bottles away in the cellar. It is the kind of bottle you reach for again and again.
Winemaker Katy Wilson presented a terrific set of new releases at Anaba. Her 2022 Pinots are especially fine, continuing a theme of heightened expression. The 2022 Pinot Noir Westlands is plump, juicy and forward, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years (2025-2032). The WestLands is the most immediate and fruity of the Pinots, but it still offers the transparency that is so typical of these wines.
