Our Estate Chardonnay is the definitive expression of our home vineyard—a wine that captures the tension between the richness of Carneros fruit and the cool-climate elegance we strive for every year. Grown on our J McK Vineyard, these vines are named after Proprietor John Sweazey’s children, John Michael and McKenna. We take our role as stewards of this land seriously, employing organic farming practices to ensure the health of our soils and the purity of our fruit. This site is uniquely shaped by the cooling anabatic winds of the San Pablo Bay, which sweep through the rows to slow the ripening process, allowing the fruit to develop deep flavor concentration while retaining a crisp, essential brightness.

The 2023 season was all about patience. Following a wet spring that finally replenished the soil, we settled into a temperate, steady summer that led to one of our latest harvests in years. This extra time on the vine was a gift; it gave the grapes a chance to reach full maturity at lower sugar levels. The result is a vintage defined by grace and a lively, natural energy that feels exactly like a morning in our home estate.

This vintage is richly aromatic, opening with an inviting nose of ripe apples and apricot, accented by bright citrus zest and a touch of warm spice. On the palate, the wine is opulent yet precisely balanced, layering flavors of mandarin orange against integrated oak spices. It is a wine of great depth—texturally sophisticated yet propelled by a refreshing, bright spine of acidity—culminating in a lingering finish with subtle, polished oak notes.
