Expressive, layered, and beautifully structured, the 2023 continues as a year-after-year favorite. Bright aromas of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, plum, and garrigue lead to a palate of red cherry, pomegranate, fine leather, and nutmeg. It finishes with a juicy, lingering presence and tannins that are remarkably fine. A gorgeous release with impeccable balance.

About this wine

Hot off the Press: Included as one of VinePair’s 32 Pinot Noirs of 2026, and it received 98 points!

We’re going deep into the cellar to bring in inventory.  We’re so excited to share this that we are releasing a limited number of cases for a Pre-Release Celebration!  VinePair says our Winemaker “Katy Wilson is a force” and about the wine,”The balance here is impeccable.”

Anaba has worked with the Sangiacomo family since the very beginning of our brand, and their Roberts Road Vineyard fruit is a cornerstone of our portfolio. The 2023 vintage benefited from an especially long growing season, allowing for extended hang time that resulted in a balanced wine with bright acidity and refined fruit concentration. On the nose, it is incredibly expressive with notes of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and plum accented by a fragrant hint of garrigue. The palate delivers a textural burst of red cherry and pomegranate met with sophisticated layers of fine leather, vanilla, and nutmeg, leading to a juicy, lingering finish where the tannins are structured yet remarkably fine. As with most of our Anaba wines, we are patient and deliberate with our barrel time (20 months for this Pinot), extending time in the cellar to build a refined finesse and elegant texture because true quality simply takes time.

Planted in 1999 at the western base of Sonoma Mountain, this blocks we source are Pommard and 115 clones, The Pommard clone provides a nice savory depth and structural backbone, while the 115 adds high-toned aromatics and elegance.  The terroir is defined by the unique conditions of the Petaluma Gap, where steady cooling from coastal fog and wind—combined with the excellent drainage of clay loam soils—allows for the slow ripening that defines this wine’s specific character.
