2016 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, WestLands Taster

Beautiful aromatics of just ripe cherry, orange peel and cola captivate the senses. The wine is energetic and vibrant filled with notes of Bing cherries, gooseberry preserves and cedar. Overall a pretty and lifted wine displaying elegant restraint.

About this wine

WestLands Pinot Noir is our nod to capturing the essence of the West Sonoma Coast. In the 2016 vintage, three vineyards were selected from the very cool climate driven regions of West Sebastopol and West Petaluma. Legendary grower Jay Morris planted his home vineyard in West Sebastopol in the high rolling hills in 2010 to a variety of clones. Also in Sebastopol, Connor Vineyard is an old apple orchard planted to several Pinot Noir clones over 25 years ago. These two vineyards share the magic of Goldridge soils and one of the foggiest climates of the region superb for growing Pinot Noir. Clary Ranch balances the trio. Located in the Petaluma Gap, the steep sloped vineyard enjoys wind stresses (which help with flavor development and concentration) and brisk coastal fog influences. Combined, these three vineyards add graceful texture and nuance to the wine. Beautiful aromatics of just ripe cherry, orange peel and cola captivate the senses. The wine is energetic and vibrant filled with notes of Bing cherries, gooseberry preserves and cedar. Overall a pretty and lifted wine displaying elegant restraint.
