2017 Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, WestLands

I am texted or called often by club members who share how exciting our wines are after a few years in the bottle.  Marco, a club member, reached out to me recently and said, “I always try to keep my club shipments for 4 or 5 years before I drink them.”  In that spirit, today we are offering the 2017 WestLands Chardonnay.  This 93-point (Wine Advocate) wine has been aging gracefully in our 55-degree library.  We sourced and selected barrels from our best vineyard sites in the true Sonoma Coast to craft this wine and there are less than 10 cases of this wine available from our cellar today.  Don’t miss out on this gem today!

WestLands Chardonnay is our nod to capturing the essence of the West Sonoma Coast. It is barrel-selected from our favorite vineyards West of Sebastopol. All the vineyards used for this wine are in close proximity to each other and are within 10 miles of the Pacific Ocean. The 2017 vintage was an excellent one – well-balanced with moderate yields due to a heat spike later in the season.

Tasting Notes:

For our first vintage of this Chardonnay, the nose is reminiscent of honeysuckle and sweet pea. With racy acidity, the palate is tempered by creamy notes from the French oak. Dynamic and approachable, this wine stands out as both an aperitif and a dinner wine.
