2017 Pinot Noir, Las Brisas Vineyard

The aromas on this Pinot Noir gracefully allude to leather, blackberry pie, and vanilla whipped cream. A well-textured palate highlights notes of bright cherry, white tea and subtle notes of cola.

The Las Brisas Vineyard, part of the Mahoney Estate, translates to “the breezes” and sits on the Sonoma side of the Carneros appellation. It is named for the winds that drive morning fog from the vineyards and bring in cooling breezes in the late afternoon. The predominantly clay soils of Carneros are shallow. This, combined with the influence of the nearby San Pablo Bay, yield remarkable fruit year after year. The 2017 vintage was an excellent one— well-balanced with moderate yields due to a heat spike later in the season. We were very fortunate to have picked all of our fruit prior to the October 2017 North Bay Fires, so the widespread devastation did not affect our wines. The aromas on this Pinot Noir gracefully allude to leather, blackberry pie, and vanilla whipped cream. A well-textured palate highlights notes of bright cherry, white tea and subtle notes of cola.
